Position Summary:   

We are seeking an Associate Application Engineer – Workday HCM to support the configuration, maintenance, and enhancement of our Workday Human Capital Management system. This is an early-career opportunity ideal for someone with a foundation in HRIS systems or enterprise applications who is eager to grow their technical expertise within Workday. 

In this role, you will work alongside senior engineers and analysts to implement business processes, create custom reports, assist in testing, and support integrations. You'll gain hands-on experience with Workday tools and technologies while supporting critical HR and IT functions. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Configuration & Support 

  • Assist in configuring business processes, security roles, and calculated fields within Workday HCM 
  • Support routine updates and changes in Workday modules under the guidance of senior team members 
  • Respond to user-reported issues and help troubleshoot basic system problems 

Reporting & Data 

  • Create and maintain simple custom reports and dashboards 
  • Assist with data loads using EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder) 
  • Help validate data accuracy during updates, imports, and integrations 

Integration Assistance 

  • Support integration testing with downstream systems (e.g., payroll, benefits, learning platforms) 
  • Participate in documenting and validating integration results 

Testing & Documentation 

  • Assist in creating test scripts and executing test plans for new features and Workday releases 
  • Maintain system documentation, configuration guides, and process flow diagrams 

Team Collaboration 

  • Participate in meetings with HR and IT stakeholders to understand requirements 
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely delivery of configuration and support tasks 
  • Learn Workday platform capabilities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Minneapolis, MN (Hybrid) 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Human Resources, or related field 
  • 1–2 years of experience with Workday 
  • Basic understanding of data structures and system configuration 
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and organizational skills 
  • Excellent communication and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with other HRIS platforms 
  • Exposure to reporting tools, data analysis, or scripting (e.g., Excel, SQL, calculated fields) 
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams 

 

What We Offer:   

At SPS Commerce, we are committed to ensuring that each employee's compensation reflects their unique experiences, performance, and skills in their role. The salary range for this role considers several factors, including education, relevant skills, work history, certifications, location, and more.  

The annual salary range for this role is: $69,000 - $103,400. The actual salary offered will be determined based on the factors listed above and may fall anywhere within the range.   

Additionally, you may also be eligible to participate in an annual incentive program. An incentive award, if granted, is based on individual and/or organizational performance.
