Position Summary:  

 

As the Technical Product Practice Manager, you will leverage your experience as a technology product development leader to grow and develop a globally distributed team of Technical Product Owners (TPOs), fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. You will serve as both a people leader, developing and empowering your team’s product skills, and a practice leader, defining and evolving the standards, processes, and methodologies that enable effective technical product delivery. This role is critical to aligning technical product outcomes with business strategy, ensuring the TPO function consistently delivers value and drives organizational success. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Establish and maintain best practices for managing technical product roadmaps, backlogs, and stakeholder communication.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to identify and implement improvements.
  • Coach, train and develop team talent in product management, including fostering a working environment in which members can join and grow.
  • Partner with engineering and product leadership to maximize the impact of the delivered software solutions.
  • Define clear performance metrics and KPIs for TPOs and evaluate their contributions to product delivery and team outcomes.
  • Remove roadblocks and act as a point of contact for escalations.
  • Foster experimentation and innovation within the team to creatively solve problems.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, tools, and practices in technology and product management to introduce relevant innovations to the team.
  • Create opportunities for team building, knowledge-sharing, and celebrating successes

 

Location:  

Hybrid role based in Minneapolis, MN preferred; remote considered

 

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2+ years in a formal people management role
  • Strong understanding the business process and business rules for a portfolio of services/products
  • Experience managing senior management level relationships with key business stakeholders
  • Experience managing product efforts in distributed systems environment and/or developing large scale web applications
  • Experience working with leading industry practices: Lean Startup/Enterprise, Agile, Scrum, Effective RoadMapping, Metrics-Driven Decision Making, and Design Thinking

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Product Management experience; able to synthesize inputs and requirements from multiple stakeholders and customers into a cohesive platform and platform roadmap that maximizes value to a growing digital business
  • Experience in Business Capability Modeling and Domain Driven Design
  • Agile development process experience
  • Project management experience delivering projects on time and budget

 

What We Offer:

At SPS Commerce, we are committed to ensuring that each employee's compensation reflects their unique experiences, performance, and skills in their role. The salary range for this role considers several factors, including education, relevant skills, work history, certifications, location, and more.  

The annual salary range for this role is: $121,900 - $195,100 + equity & bonus. The actual salary offered will be determined based on the factors listed above and may fall anywhere within the range.   

Additionally, you may also be eligible to participate in an annual incentive program. An incentive award, if granted, is based on individual and/or organizational performance.
