Position Summary:  

 

We’re seeking a Data Scientist to join our Data Solutions team and help expand SPS’s analytics capabilities with advanced modeling and predictive insights. In this role, you’ll apply your expertise in statistics, machine learning, and modern data technologies to analyze large datasets, uncover patterns, and deliver insights that drive smarter business decisions. You’ll design, test, and maintain models while collaborating across teams to translate technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for business leaders. Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain data models and systems for diverse business problems.
  • Build big data collection and analytics capabilities to uncover customer, product, and operational insights.
  • Analyze large datasets to uncover actionable insights.
  • Perform statistical modeling and exploratory data analysis to uncover insights hidden within vast amounts of data.
  • Leverage data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and provide actionable insights that inform strategic and operational decisions.
  • Design, build, trainand manage machine learning models and make necessary adjustments to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop algorithms to analyze data.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to integrate domain expertise into models.
  • Drive technical decisions to meet business problems.
  • Ensure pipeline integrity and enforce robust data quality assurance with automated data cleansing and verification.
  • Translate complex data challenges and solutions into business impact through automation, modeling, and infrastructure optimization.
  • Present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Location: 

This role is based in our Minneapolis, MN office and requires onsite presence 2–3 days per week.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in data science, analytics, backend development, or cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience building scalable, serverless systems and ensuring data quality through automated pipelines.
  • Strong background in mathematics and algorithms.
  • Experience with SQL, Python, R, Apache Kafka, Snowflake, Lakehouse, Apache Beam, Databricks, or similar technologies.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work in a startup or fast-paced environment.
  • Experience presenting to leadership teams.

 

 

What We Offer

At SPS Commerce, we are committed to ensuring that each employee's compensation reflects their unique experiences, performance, and skills in their role. The salary range for this role considers several factors, including education, relevant skills, work history, certifications, location, and more. 

 

The annual salary range for this role is: $83,200 - $124,800. The actual salary offered will be determined based on the factors listed above and may fall anywhere within the range.  

 

Additionally, you may also be eligible to participate in an annual incentive program. An incentive award, if granted, is based on individual and/or organizational performance.
